Out of necessity, we're about to begin a pretty big home project. We have to get a new sewer line (and if you were here for Anna's birthday party, you understand the urgency-- pun intended--of that matter). In addition to the sewer line, we can't put off getting our driveway and sidewalk replaced as well. The two jobs sort of go hand in hand: To get the sewer line replaced the plumber has to dig up part of the driveway. The bad thing is that these projects are going to take a big chunk out of our savings account. Luckily, and thanks to the new budget, we've got the money but it's a tough pill to swallow none-the-less. Especially because this project could've been our relaxing hot tub on the patio, complete with outdoor sound system and maybe a built in firepit...or our updated kitchen with nice countertops, perhaps a farmhouse sink, a range top in which all of the burners work 100% of the time and/or an oven that's large enough to accommodate a frozen pizza...or our french door frenzy, wherein we replace one of our bedroom windows with french doors (with small deck attached, bistro table and chairs, potted, flowering plants and a nice vine--we were thinking maybe even grapevine) and replace our family room's 1952 sliding glass door with much more eye-pleasing french doors.
Oh well. Maybe one day we'll get to do a home improvement project that someone other than our poop and our cars can appreciate.
