2!

Jack woke up on the morning of his 2nd birthday, walked into the kitchen and immediately demanded a cupcake. I mean, why not? What better day to have a cupcake for breakfast than the morning of your 2nd birthday?

After breakfast, we dropped sister off at school and Jack and I headed to the zoo to explore.

First stop was the duck pond outside the main gates of the zoo.

Then, once inside the zoo, we moseyed along at Jack's pace. It was great. There was no one else with us (*cough* SISTER) to dictate where we were going and what we were going to see next.

In fact, Jack spent the better part of our time at the zoo, peering through the construction fences, watching the heavy machinery working on the latest zoo expansion. He enjoyed that more than the animals.

Although he looks sad or scared in the next picture, I assure you that he wasn't. This was right after we boarded the train, which ended our zoo adventure. It was also past naptime and he was pooped. In fact, the gentle rocking of the train and the cool breeze about knocked him plumb out.

It was a perfect way to celebrate Jack's day.
