Girls' Night Out

Anna, our dear family friend, Julie and I had made long-standing plans to go to a Christmas concert last night. Anytime Anna gets an opportunity to do something without her pesky little brother there to foul up her mood and her life, she's over-the-moon excited. We decided to treat her like a queen for the evening. First up, was a little manicure action. She painted her own nails for the first time. The results were about as good as you'd expect.

Next up, a little iPhone "selfie" action in front of our tree, before leaving to pick up Julie

Before the show, we had dinner at an Italian place, where Anna managed to eat both spaghetti AND chocolate mousse without so much as a splat of either on her ivory cardigan.

Here she is in front of the Wortham Center Christmas tree.

Here's the excited girl, as we awaited the beginning of the concert

Another gratuitous Mommy/Anna shot to mark the momentous occasion--Anna was about to see her favorite, Bob Schneider in concert!

And, here we are, approximately 2.5 songs into his set. Poor girl was passed out cold. She missed her two favorite songs, too. It was a late night, on top of a busy, long school day for this girl. Somehow, I thought that a big pasta dinner, followed by chocolate mousse for dessert would be enough to propel her through the evening. Wrong.

Try again next year?
